OKTOBERFEST
TIME?
HELL YEAH!
Chaunce Hayden: It’s hard to believe that we’re talking
about OKTOBERFEST but here we are. What can you tell
me about your September 23rd event?
Mike Carrino: OKTOBERFEST 2017 is an amazing community
event to raise money for the Montclair Center BID and a
portion of the profits will also go as a donation to The Valerie
Fund.
This is the sixth annual OKTOBERFEST celebration and each
year we have been fortunate enough to have grown and this
year is predicted to be the biggest and best one yet!
How much preparation does it take to put something that
massive together?
We start planning OKTOBERFEST right after New Years eve.
It is at the core of most meetings throughout the first two
quarters of the year and it takes hundreds of man hours in
planning and coordinating.
Lets take about beer. Tell me what IPA lovers can expect?
OKTOBERFEST is really about tradition. We will have the
most traditional OKTOBERFEST brews in the form of Hacker
Pshorr, Paulaner, Radenberger and my personal favorite
Ramstein Oktoberfest (brewed right here in NJ!) We will
also be offering a couple other local beers and a local cider
for the gluten free patrons that are in attendance.
What goes into selecting the various beers you’ll be
featuring?
Traditional Oktoberfest beers are the staple of the festival.
We like to incorporate some local beers as well to really
round out the choices. What food goes good with beer
and how many vendors will be
filling those beer bellys?
We are anticipating up to thirty (30)
different food vendors spanning
the culinary globe from sausages
and spaetzle to meatballs and
pizza to tacos and everything in
between.
Can you tell us about the live
music you have planned?
We have four bands signed up for
entertainment:
1. The Defending Champions
2. Wyland
3. The Watchung Mountain Riders
4. Bern & The Brights
Pig and Prince has quickly
become one of Monclair’s favorite
restaurants. What makes the Pig

I like to think we are diverse and
unique. We go to great lengths to
craft our food and cocktails and
spend countless hours developing
thoughtful menu creations using
the freshest locally sourced
products prepared in a unique and
exciting way for our patrons.
What other events do you have
planned for this fall?
October 19th is Whiskey-Fest.
A sensational opportunity for
whiskey lovers to taste some of
their favorites and some new
and upcoming products. Last
year we hosted over 20 distillers
and offered over 75 different

Summer Sundays:
From July 16th to August 27th
Pig and Prince will be closed for
dinner for Summer Sunday Hours.
Sunday Brunch Hours will be
extended from 11am to 3pm.
Every third Thursday
is “Steal the Pint
Night” at Pig & Prince.
We feature a new brewery every
third Thursday, buy the beer-keep
the pint!

Seems like a no brainer that
taking the train is the best way
to come to the Pig and Prince
because .. well… you’re located
at the train station. Is it as simple
and easy as it seems?
Yeah hop in that time machine and
take it back to 1930’s you would
be right here. But alas the station
(historically registered in 1972) was
decommissioned in 1984. The Bay
street station is a short two block
walk for all our train commuters.
What would you say to someone
who has never been to the Pig
and Prince?
Shame on you…..tisk tisk.
